Code of Conduct – Professional Ethics

 Professors and their Responsibilities

Whosoever adopts teaching as a profession assumes the obligation to conduct herself in accordance with the ideal of profession.The national ideals of education which have already been set forth and which she should seek to inculcate among student must be

her own ideals.

The profession, further, requires  that the professors should be calm, patient  and communicative by temperament & amiable in deposition.

 

Professors should:

1.Professional conduct is the set of attitudes,behaviors and characteristics deemed desirable in all members of the faculty that define the faculty and its relationship to its members and to society.Professional standards serve to guide professional conduct.

2.Standards expected of Professors and academic staff as members of the health profession demands integrity, competence and adherence to ethical standards .Students, Professors and academic staff in healthy professions programs are expected to meet standards of professional behaviours set  out in the codes of ethics and conduct of their respective or future professional

regulatory bodies .

3.Every faculty shall discharge her duties efficiently and diligently to match with the academic standards and performance norms laid down by the management from time to time.

  1. Regular update of knowledge and skills to equip themselves professionally for the proper discharge of duties assigned to her.
  2. Every faculty shall conduct herself with absolute dignity and decorum in her dealing with the superiors,colleagues and students every time .

6 No faculty shall be absent herself from duties at any time without permission from higher ups.

  1. Every teacher should seek to make professional growth continuous through study and research .
  2. Express free and frank opinions by participation at professional meetings ,seminars,, conferences etc.towards the contribution of knowledge .

9.Maintain active membership of professional organisations and  strive to improve education & profession through them.

  1. Perform your duties in the form of teaching,tutorials,practicals,seminars and research works conscientiously and with dedication .

 

  1. Participate in extension, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including community service.
  2. Co-operate and assist in carrying out functions related to the educational responsibilities of the college and the university such as: assisting in appraising applications for admissions,advising & counselling students as well as assisting the code of university and college examinations, including supervision, invigilation and evaluation.

13.Faculty should associate,involve and participate in all the college activities and programmes irrespective of the Department they belong to.They shall motivate every student to actively involve,associate and participate in the various programs and activities of the college .

  1. They shall not confine their activities only to the classroom level,rather,involve themselves in all the efforts of the college in giving extra inputs to the students so as to make the students not only academically brilliant,but confident, competent and fully developed personalities.

15.Faculty should not degrade,harass or insult any other person for any reason whatsoever or act in a manner unbecoming of the teaching profession .

  1. Faculty shall strive for academic excellence and conduct in the manner of a perfect role model for others to emulate.
  2. Faculty should always maintain decency and morality in conduct or behaviour inside and outside the campus.

 

Professors role  towards students

1.Respect the right and dignity of the student in expressing her opinion.

2.Deal justly & impartially with students regardless of their religion,caste, political,economic,social and physical characteristics.

3.Recognise the difference in aptitude and capabilities among students and strive to meet their individual needs.

  1. Encourage students to improve their attainments,develop their personalities and at the same time contribute to community welfare.

5.Inculcate scientific outlook among students and respect for physical labor and ideals of democracy,patriotism and peace .

  1. Be affectionate to the students and not behave in a vindictive manner towards any of them for any reason.

7.Pay attention to only the attainment of the student in the assessment of merit.

8.Make themselves available to the students even beyond their class hours and help and guide students without any remuneration or reward.

9.Aid students to develop an

understanding of one’s national heritage and national goals.

  1. Refrain from inciting students against other students,colleagues or administration .

 

Professors and Colleagues

 

1.Treat other members of the profession in the same manner as you wish to be treated .

  1. Speak respectfully to other teachers

and render assistance for professional betterment .

  1. Refrain from lodging unsubstantiated allegations against colleagues to the higher authorities.

4.Refrain from allowing considerations of caste,creed,religion,race or sex in their  professional endeavour.

Professors and Authority:

 

Professors should:

1.Discharge their professional responsibilities according to the existing rules and adhere to procedures and methods consistent with their profession in initiating steps through their own institutional bodies and all professional organizations for change of any such rule detrimental to the profess interest.

2.Co-operate in the formulation of policies of the institution by accepting various offices and discharge responsibilities which such offices may demand.

3.Co-operate with the authorities for the. betterment of the institutions keeping in view the interest and in conformity with dignity of the profession.

4.Should adhere to the conditions of contract.

 

Professors and Guardians

Professors should:

Try to see through teacher’s bodies and organisations ,that institutions maintain, contact with the guardians,their wards and send reports of their performances to the parents whenever necessary.Meet the guardians in meetings convened for the purpose for mutual exchange of ideas and for the benefit of the institution.

 

Code of Conduct for Students

 

1.Students are expected to adhere to the timetable for attending lectures/tutorials/ practicals and other extra-curricular

activities.

2.Students are expected to maintain the highest standards of discipline and dignified manner of behavior inside as well as outside the College Campus. 3.They shall abide by the rules and regulations of the college and should act in a way that highlights the discipline and esteem of the college.

4.No student shall enter or leave the classroom when the session is on without the permission of the teachers concerned.

5.In the events of student seminars/ project presentations etc, it is compulsory that all the students of the concerned class be present for the entire session.

  1. All leave applications (Regular & Medical) shall be submitted in time, for sanction by HOD and concerned teachers. Application for medical leave shall be accompanied by valid medical certificates
  2. Impersonation during roll call is a punishable offence.

7.Resorting to any kind of malpractice, copying,impersonation, use of unfair means,exchanging answer- sheets during examinations will not be tolerated and will be dealt with severely.

8.Students should carefully follow the notices put up on the Notice Board (both online and offline). No excuse will be considered if Notices on the Board are  ignored.

9.When a lecturer is absent and is unable to take classes ,students should maintain a strict order among themselves so as to not disturb the adjoining classes. Under no circumstances should they leave the classroom without ascertaining the relieving  orders from the staff room.

10.Students are expected to come to college dressed suitably  maintaining decency.

11.Students are expected to come to college dressed visibly their Identity Cards and always keep it on their person during college hours inside the campus.

12.When assembled every class must consider itself responsible for the conduct of its members.

13.Students must refrain from mishandling and tampering with library books and college computer systems.

14.Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited.Disciplinary action will be taken against those who violate this rule.

15.Any damage or defacement of college property is a punishable offence.

16.Habitual misconduct and repeated breach of the college  rules and regulations will be considered as a grave offence and will result in suspension/

expulsion of  the student with immediate effect.
